Settled as Newgate in the late 17th or early 18th century, Centreville would become its own place with its new name during the 18th century when rumors of a new major road running north to south would be developed around Centreville. Today Route 29 (a major route running north to Washington, D.C. and south through central and southern Virginia) contributes to the continued prosperity experienced by Centreville provided both its identity and a steady population. Centreville was very much a part of the Civil War, as the Battle of Manassas, often referred to as the Battle of Bull Run, and considered the first major battle of that conflict, is located nearby. Centreville’s many historic homes, churches and other landmarks are preserved in the Centreville Historic District, but many lie throughout the entire area.
Today, Centreville respects its heritage while simultaneously providing its residents with quality housing options that include new construction, homes in established neighborhood, luxury single-family homes and townhomes and more. Residents of Centreville not only have great access to Washington, D.C. and its metropolitan attractions, but also enjoy their own shopping, theatres and restaurants ranging from small coffee shops to up-scale dining. And with four seasons of wonderful weather, residents enjoy access to Centreville’s nearby parks and the Chantilly National Golf & Country Club. These local parks are terrific for hiking, picnicking, biking or just relaxing and watching the sunset.
Centreville is a very popular real estate market for Washington, D.C. commuters (including two exits to access Interstate 66), and the excellent school system and family-friendly atmosphere of the area have attracted many newcomers looking to relocate. Whatever your family’s real estate needs, you are sure to find the perfect home in Centreville.
