August is around the corner, so if you haven’t gotten around to your summer maintenance checklist yet, now’s your last chance! You’ll want to get these things done ASAP, so you won’t have double the work come this Fall.

1. Check Air Conditioner: If you haven’t already, prep air conditioners and fans for their busiest season. It will likely still be hot into September, so it’s not too late! You should be changing your AC filter every 4-6 weeks in the summer, aka during the months of heaviest use. A dirty filter reduces not only air quality but also the efficiency of airflow.

2. Clean Porch: Deep sweep, then scrub with an all-purpose cleaner!

3. Freshen Exterior: Power wash your outdoor spaces, do a paint-job touch-up, and spruce up your curb appeal.

4. Reseal The Driveway: It might be time for a new coat of asphalt. Hire someone to come fill in the cracks or do it yourself!

5. Clean Grill: For gas grills, turn the heat up to high and let the grill cook closed for 30 minutes. Then, wipe it down with a gentle cleanser.

6. Deck Maintenance: Dizzle some water on your deck’s floorboard, if the water soaks in, it’s time to reseal your deck. Don’t forget to clean your deck furniture!

7. Clean Windows: If you didn’t wash all the pollen off the exterior of your windows in Spring, you’re way overdue for a thorough window washing.

8. Prep Garden for Fall: Remove dead pieces of your perennials and annuals to keep them productive for the last bit of summer. If leaves are green, leave them alone, they’re working on their blooms for next year!
