We hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits! Today, we wanted to share a heartwarming story that unfolded right in our own neighborhood. A story of compassion, collaboration, and a community coming together to support a retired veteran in need. As realtors, we have the privilege of witnessing the power of home every day. But there are certain moments that touch our hearts and remind us of the profound impact a safe and comfortable home can have on someone’s life.

A few months ago, we had the honor of meeting Eugene, a two-time veteran who had served both in Vietnam and Korea. Retired and wheelchair-bound, he was living in a home where maintaining the property became increasingly challenging, it no longer met his needs. He finally decided it was time to move out of his current home into a place where he could thrive and live independently.

When we first met Eugene, his warmth touched our hearts and we knew that we had an opportunity to make a significant difference in his life. But it would require more than just a real estate sale; it would require a community coming together. We reached out to the incredible neighbors in the area, and the teens in this neighborhood were so eager to help. They generously volunteered their time & energy to help get his home looking the best. The bones of his home were solid, it was just a matter of muscle to get things moving. Their efforts were nothing short of inspiring. But the support didn’t stop there, volunteers from our team heard the call and came to help. With the heavy lifting all done we quickly found a buyer, sold his current home, and found him a new, accessible property.

As we worked with Eugene looking at the available properties we were reminded of the work that the Fisher House Foundation does for our veterans and service members. Fisher House devotes every day to building and maintaining comfort homes near VA hospitals where these heroes and their families can stay for the duration of their treatment. Like Eugene, these families need these homes to work for them and are designed for accessibility and comfort. Fisher House knows the best medicine is family, by welcoming the spouses and their kids it reduces stress for everyone and shortens healing time.

So why am we telling you this? we have been giving back to Fisher House for many years because of how much good they do for veterans like Eugene and others in our community. We find myself continually thinking about these families, and have looked for every opportunity to help. This is why we’re so passionate about helping families through real estate, it allows us to support worthy causes like Fisher House. Helping families and fighting for them through the purchase or sale of a home is an incredible responsibility that we don’t take lightly!

Thank you,
Sarah & Debbie Reynolds
