“Nothing remains as it was. If you know this, you can begin again, with pure joy in the uprooting.” – Judith Minty

We always say that a home is more than its bricks and mortar—the true identity of a house are the families whose stories become engraved in the very foundations of that home’s history. For the last 14 years, a charming home in Newport News, VA, served Jessica’s family through quite literally the very best and worst days of their lives, from welcoming 2 daughters into the world to losing one to Brain Stemcell Cancer, this home was more than just shelter; it saw this family through the good days, bad days, chaotic days, lazy days, etc., and always provided a beacon of security when the outside world got too heavy. Jessica and her husband, Bryan, were young soon-to-be-married 20-somethings when they bought this starter home, and although bittersweet, they decided it was time to let another family build a legacy in their beloved home.

Built in 1960, the house already had history unknown to them before they bought it, and now it has a bit of their history, too. We feel honored to have supported Jessica’s family through one of the most important moments of their lives and we feel connected to their family as we guided them through this emotional process and helped them begin the next chapter in their lives. This is why we do what we do!

In honor of Brain Cancer Awareness month, we would love for you to read this family’s full story —> https://blessthisgloriousmess.wordpress.com/2021/04/09/the-uprooting/
